Should I Sell My House Over the Holidays? A Fountain Inn Seller's Guide

Every year around this time, sellers ask me the same thing: "Should I wait until spring?"

It's a fair question. The holidays are busy, the days are short, and nobody wants strangers walking through the house while the tree is up. But waiting isn't always the smart move, especially in Fountain Inn right now.

Part One

Holiday buyers are SERIOUS buyers

People don't tour homes the week of Thanksgiving for fun. Buyers who shop in November and December usually have a reason: a new job, a lease ending, a growing family, a relocation that starts January 1st. They aren't browsing. They're ready.

Part Two

There's less competition

Fountain Inn had a lot of new listings this fall. But as the holidays hit, many sellers pull their homes off the market, and fewer new listings come on. That means the buyers who are out there have fewer choices. And fewer choices is good news for you.

Part Three

What the Fountain Inn numbers say

Here's what the Greater Greenville MLS shows for Fountain Inn in September 2026. There were 88 new listings, up almost 42% from 62 last September. The median home spent 63 days on the market, up from 46 last year, while the MLS as a whole was at 36. And once a home went under contract, it took an average of 41 days to close, down from 49 last year.

What does that tell us? More Fountain Inn sellers are competing for the same buyers, and homes here are sitting almost twice as long as the rest of the market. The homes that are priced right and prepared well still sell. And once they're under contract, they're closing faster than last year. A home under contract by Thanksgiving could close right around the new year.

Part Four

Rates gave buyers a little help this month

On October 22, mortgage rates fell to their lowest point in about a month after a tech stock selloff pushed bond yields down. Nobody can promise where rates go next. But every little dip gives buyers a little more buying power, and those buyers are shopping right now.

Part Five

How to sell over the holidays without losing your holidays

  • Price it right from day one. With Fountain Inn homes sitting a median of 63 days, the first price is everything.
  • Decorate light. Keep it warm and festive, but clear the clutter so buyers can see the home.
  • Set showing windows that work for your family. You don't have to say yes to every request on Christmas Eve.
  • Let your agent carry the load. Inspections, quotes, paperwork. That's my job, so you can enjoy your family.

Why Fountain Inn buyers keep coming

Fountain Inn has a charming downtown on Main Street, the Younts Center for Performing Arts, community events all year, and easy access to Simpsonville, Greenville, and Laurens. Buyers want that small-town feel close to everything, and that doesn't stop for the holidays.

So, should you sell over the holidays?

If you need to sell, or you want to be settled into your next home by spring, the holidays can be a great time to do it. If you're not sure, let's talk it through. I'll look at your home, your timeline, and your goals, and we'll decide together.

Let's run YOUR numbers. Not AI. Me.
